Silver Lining

Sunday night at dinner, I started to feel a little swishy around the eyes and thought it might be a migraine coming on. As the night progressed, it was clear that I was getting another attack of viral labyrinthitis. Monday, between bouts of spinning and nausea, I was able to find subs for most of my classes and get to the Urgent Care to treat these symptoms. The meds do just that, but I am left feeling super sleepy. I succumbed and spent the remainder of the day in bed. I would occasionally wake up and scribble a list of things that needed to be done. I felt confident that with the meds in my system and a good day and nights rest, that I would awake today feeling like my old self. Sadly, this is not the case.

I drank my coffee feeling restless and annoyed. I tried to do a few things around the house to feel useful and looked like a drunken sailor doing so. Finally, I admitted defeat and put myself back to bed.

So from this comfy perch, I write to you. I was so excited for the themes this week and to use pranayama to savor the glorious moments that make up the fabric of our lives. I am now becoming aware that it is I who needs to breathe deeply inviting in gratitude for the access to medical treatment, for a supportive husband who drove me around and took care of me all day, for my sons who are laughing downstairs with their visiting cousin, big booming changing voices ringing through my house. I am grateful for the gentle air the fan sends across my skin and the flowers blooming riotously in my front garden. I am even grateful for the cozy pjs I lounge in. I could continue acknowledging technology that allows me to pen this message to you. There is an abundance of riches around us if we only look for them.

I am going to hold this in my mind. I am not “stuck” in bed. I am blessed to be here…healing, contemplating, bathed in gratitude.

I hope that you attend my classes this week. The subs are women I hold in such high regard, and who stepped up without hesitation to help me. They are strong and graceful yogis who have so much to share. Savor a new approach, a new pose, a new way of coming to yoga and I will see you next week!

With love,

Lanta

LOVE IT! Love you, your musings, your approach to and outlook on life, love it all! Give yourself the time you need to heal and of course if there’s anything I can do to help let me know. Hugs

Please just take care of yourself so you can get back soon. You have left us in great hands and I really appreciate it.
