Happy Thanksgiving!

This is a season where we cultivate and acknowledge gratitude. It may feel more challenging than years past, but I am confident we can all find a few things. Our health. A roof over our heads. Food in our bellies. Our yoga community.

I, for one, am grateful for YOU! Your continued support keeps the doors open during this pandemic. You, showing up again and again, inspires others to do the same and through this action, our community grows, deepens, becomes richer and more connected. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

There are a few things I want to share with you.

Firstly, if you have travelled out of New England over the holidays or been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or are experiencing symptoms, please stay home and attend virtual classes for 14 days or 7 days with a negative Covid test. This assures that Nourish can continue to be a safe place for us to gather!

Please note these schedule changes. The Wednesday night By Donation class and all classes on Thursday are cancelled. Our usual schedule resumes on Friday. If you would like to turn Friday’s class into a workshop, join us directly after the 9am Classical Yoga class to combine breath, movement, visualization and the element of fire to gain clarity and invite inspiration. Happy Halloween!

October is my favorite month! Maybe that is because it’s my birthday month (lol) or that I love dressing up on Halloween (Samhain), but I think it goes deeper than that. Life feels vital and urgent to me in Fall. Leaves are falling off the trees. Days are getting shorter. We have harvested the last of our gardens in preparation for the first hard freeze. We have stacked the wood and winterized all the things. We are in the frenzy of ready-making. This preparation is as old as time. Did you know that Samhain, a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, shows up in literature from about the 10th century on! No wonder we feel drawn to preparation, dressing up and honoring our ancestors at this time. It’s in our bones! This weekend, we have some fun offerings to welcome the season! Brenna will teach Ashtanga on Saturday at 8am and I am subbing for Sheila on Sunday. Both of these classes are in studio, as well as zoomed. Plus……..

Saturday, come and hang with the undead! Join Chelsea’s 10am Yoga Trapeze class! Connect with Spirit and your ancestors. Allow them to guide and support you in self-care moving into the holiday months. Costumes encouraged. There will be some time at the end of class for photos. $25 for a drop in or 4 classes for $90.

We’ve got you!

We are firmly entrenched in October. Election day is looming. Covid numbers are up and the days are getting shorter. That’s enough to throw anyone out of sorts! How are you? Stop and take a deep breath. Check in with yourself. It is natural to notice some apprehension, or feel some tension in the body. Take a moment to extend compassion to yourself. These are challenging times. BUT you have everything you need to move through them with grace and ease. You have yoga.

Patanjali teaches us that by restraint of the fluctuations in our mind, we will experience yoga or union; self-realization. This restraint is developed through practice and non-attachment…through asana (poses) and pranayama (breath work)…through self-inquiry and meditation. These tools allow the space for self knowledge and as we deepen our relationship with Self, we can more lovingly meet our needs.

I am reaching out today to remind you that Nourish is a resource you can use to manage your Self-care. We offer classes 7 days a week, all via zoom and most in person. We disinfect the studio after every class and strictly adhere to Covid protocols. We offer discounted rates for teachers, students and seniors. We continue to offer 2 By Donations classes a week. It is more important than ever in these divisive times to feel part of something… a sense of belonging. I want to invite you to return to shala, the Sanskit word for home, to be in community with us.

Autumn is here and we welcome it with an outpouring of love for the Nourish community! 2020 has been quite a year of challenges and I am so grateful for your support! We continue to observe COVID protocols by limiting class size to maintain proper social distancing, as well as offering a remote option for all of our yoga classes. We take temperatures, require masks upon entry and use hand sanitizer for our in person students. The studio is disinfected after every class. Your safety and well-being is of our utmost concern.
