  • REST You have been following this journey. You have seen me condition and train. You have watched me face my relationship with food and redefine how we are going to live together. I hope I have shared equally the accomplishments and the struggles because they show up in equal measure. What I haven’t shared (denial, anyone?) is that over the past two weeks, I have felt my recovery time getting longer. I have been noting more aches and pains. I am tired all of the time. Last Tuesday, at my aerial class, I had to leave early. I mean, I could have stayed and supported my friends, but I didn’t trust myself to stay off of the silks and I was hurting. ...
  • Schedule 6/17-6/23 This is a quiet week for me. There are NO CLASSES at the Bow Lake Community Center because the Lakeside Players have their tech week. Our regular schedule will resume next week! I will be at Peace Tree Yoga Mon and Wed 9am. We are continuing to explore tapas to ignite an inner fire this week, See you on the mat! Lanta
  • Schedule Week of 6/10-6/16 It looks as though we have a beautiful week ahead of us! Looking forward to continuing the exploration of tapas. I have been contemplating this topic in relationship to my aerial and yoga practice and beginning to see how discipline lays the foundation for one to explore what they are passionate about. First, you have to show up and do the work. Interesting stuff. These discussions will be had at Peace Tree Yoga Mon/Wed 9am. I will be at the Bow Lake Community Club offering Yoga by Donation Mon/Wed 6pm and Fri 9am. These community based classes invite yoga newbies and celebrate diversity in our practice. All are welcome! Can’t wait to see you on the mat! Lanta
  • I could suck….. It is happening!! I set a goal of performing for my 50th birthday and it is starting to materialize. The Save the Date cards have been sent! The venue booked. I have a choreographer for the 6 numbers that will be performed. My troupe is gathered and we begin dancing together on June 30th. I am starting to contemplate costumes and cocktails and  appetizers. Oh my! Did I already say….. This is happening!!!! I am noticing that I am starting to feel a little anxious. What if it doesn’t come together? What if I can’t transform the space? What if I can’t remember the dances? What if no one comes? What if I suck? These thoughts wind their way through my ...
  • Schedule Week of 6/3-6/9 What a lovely morning to sit and contemplate the week ahead! At Peace Tree Yoga, we are exploring the niyama, tapas. This has been translated as “discipline”, but also as “to ignite an inner fire”. We are working with a lovely meditation to support this inquiry. I will be at PTY Mon/Wed 9am and Th 6pm. At the Bow Lake Grange Hall, I will be exploring pranayama or breath work to observe how we can alter our energetic with these simple practices. Increase energy. Down-regulate anxiety. Create calm. Curious? Good! Join me M/W 6pm and Fri 9am. I look forward to seeing you on the mat! Lanta
  • Moonlight. Sometimes, I get on here and write until something meaningful emerges…I hope. Today, I have something I am reflecting on and I am finding the words hard to come by. I went to my aerial class last night and we worked on the silks for a while. I am still working on the cross back straddle and opposite side climbs, but seeing progress. What was so interesting though is the time spent on the trapeze. We did a pretty. but simple pose standing and then worked on a half mill. This took me back to 5th grade when I would hook my knee over the bars on my school’s playground and spin and spin until the back of my knees bled, ...
  • Schedule Week of 5/27-6/2 This week, at Peace Tree Yoga, we finish up the exploration of contentment, moving from “I wish” to right action. At the Bow Lake Community Club, we will be exploring the 5th limb of yoga, pratyahara. This limb invites us to withdraw from or harness control of sensory impressions, which frees the mind to move inward. “By withdrawing our awareness from negative impressions, pratyahara strengthens the mind’s powers of immunity. Just as a healthy body resists toxins and pathogens, a healthy mind resists the negative sensory influences around it. If you are easily disturbed by the noise and turmoil of the environment around you, you need to practice pratyahara. Without it, you will not be able to meditate.”~David Frawley Join me at: Peace ...
  • Grief Comes In Waves… I was told this when my father passed this Spring. I didn’t understand the statement because I barely registered grief at the time. It was such a strange place to find oneself, mourning a loss while not really noting a loss in your day to day life, as if an anchor in the fabric of your world has given way, but the unraveling has yet to be detected. Yes. Exactly this. And now I am noting that the unraveling has begun…. It starts with the anger of why? Why him and not another? My father has 3 sons from a second marriage and he deserved to see them marry and meet his grandchildren. I chide myself to be careful of recreating ...
  • Schedule Week of 5/20-5/26 This week, I continue to explore contentment at Peace Tree Yoga, while breaking down our asana practice to develop the habits of discipline and concentration at the Bow Lake Community Club. I am always curious to see how each week’s themes will develop and overlap as I contemplate and experience them. Aren’t you? To join me in this exploration, you can find me at: Peace Tree Yoga M/W 9am Bow Lake Community Club M/W 6pm and Fri 9am I look forward to seeing you! Lanta
